RUTLAND, Vt. – The Castleton University men's golf team sits in first place at its annual Castleton Invitational at Rutland Country Club after one day of competition on Saturday.
The Spartans have a one-stroke lead as a team, firing a 319 on their home course. Southern Maine is in second place as a team at 320, followed by NVU-Johnson at 321 and Gordon and Elms tied at 322. New England College is fifth with a 333, followed by Norwich at 342. MCLA rounds out the field at 470.
Castleton's Nick Ojala leads the field with a two-over 72, while teammates
Andrew Stefura and
Brady Hathorn are tied for 14th place at 81.
Matt Redmond rounded out the team's score with an 85, while
Brandon Picard placed fifth on the squad with an 86.
The tournament concludes on Sunday with tee times beginning at 10:40 a.m. at Rutland Country Club.
