PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Sam Knight of the Vermont State University Castleton men's golf team earned the first Little East Conference nod of his career, named the Rookie of the Week for the week ending October 5.

Knight continues to impress in his rookie season as he tied for fifth place at the USM Husky Invitational. The Madison, Wisc. native got off to a hot start, sitting at -3 late in the round, before eventually finishing even with a 72. This is his second contest in a row with a top five finish.  

The Spartans continue to dial it is as this is their third-straight tournament where they set a new lowest round for the season.

Castleton looks to continue its streak as it heads to Western Connecticut to take part in the Little East Conference Championship, with the opening round set for Thursday.
