LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – The Castleton women's nordic skiing team earned a seventh-place finish at the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) National Championships 7.5-kilometer freestyle Tuesday afternoon.

Emily Greene led the way for the Spartans in the day's lone race, crossing the line in eighth place with a time of 26:17:50. The senior — who finished in 12th in this same race back in 2020 — shaved over two minutes off her time from two years ago.

Crossing the line after Greene was Annika Saunus, who in her first time competing at nationals, finished in 25th with a time of 29:38:20.

The Spartans had 37 points added to their total as a default for not having the minimum of three racers compete, putting them in seventh on the day with 70 points. St. Olaf College placed in first with 12 points, with the University of Wyoming, Paul Smith's College, the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, and Cornell rounding out the top-five.

Castleton returns to action tomorrow, Wednesday, March 9 to compete in the classic sprint on Day 2 of the USCSA National Championships.
