QUEENSBURY, N.Y. – The Castleton women's alpine ski team kept its winning streak intact on Sunday afternoon, stretching its first-place streak to eight races with Sunday's slalom result at West Mountain.
The streak marks the third season in a row that the Spartan women have logged an eight-race winning streak in MacConnell Division races, as Castleton accomplished the feat in 2019 and 2020. There were no MacConnell Division races in 2021.
Castleton's logged a team time of 5:10.45. Babson was second at 5:14.98, while UConn edged out Clarkson for third place by just more than one-third of a second. UConn's team time was 5:38.45 and Clarkson's was 5:38.70.
Tatiana Tobolka topped the podium with a time of 1:42.30, earning the fastest run in each heat at 50.33 seconds and 51.97 seconds, respectively.
Karoline Rettenbacher landed on the podium in third place with a time of 1:43.43, finishing with runs of 50.53 and 52.90.
Petra Veljkovic was fourth with a time of 1:44.72 after runs of 50.73 and 53.99.
Castleton had three more top-10 finishers, with
Birgit Kinneberg placing sixth at 1:45.56,
Deena Jacunski placing eighth at 1:46.18 and
Lena Soehnle placing ninth at 1:46.43.
Ashley LaCross was 15th with a time of 1:51.53, while
Matilda Gutke rounded out Castleton's top-20 finishers with a time of 1:51.76 in 17th place.
