CASTLETON, Vt. – Castleton University football players continue to reel in All-Region recognition, as
Caezar Williams and
Tucker Gaudette were honored by the New England Football Writers and D3football.com.
Williams was named First Team All-New England by NEFW and All-Region 1 by D3football.com as a return specialist, while Gaudette was named First Team All-New England by NEFW and Third Team All-Region 1 by D3football.com as an offensive tackle. Gaudette was also previously named to the Noontime Sports All-New England Team. The NEFW award encompasses Division II and Division III players from New England colleges, while D3football.com's Region 1 spans beyond New England and includes schools from Pennsylvania; New York; New Jersey; and Washington, D.C.
Gaudette, a four-time First Team All-ECFC honoree, was honored as ECFC Offensive Lineman of the Year for the second year in a row after an impressive senior campaign. He started every game at left tackle and anchored a line that rushed for 1,538 yards on the season. Gaudette and the Spartans also protected the quarterback well, surrendering just 20 sacks on the season over 10 games. He was a key piece of the puzzle that helped lead the Spartans to a second-place finish in the league.
Williams had one of the best seasons in the country as a return man, finishing the regular season as one of just seven players in Division III with multiple punt return touchdowns. His two punt return scores were the first in program history for Castleton, and he ranked fifth in the nation in punt return average at the end of the regular season. He had nearly three times as many punt return yards as any other player in the ECFC on the season, averaging 17.1 yards per return overall.
