11/9/2022 3:46:00 PM

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Emily Harris' record-setting campaign continued to receive attention around the Little East Conference and around the country, as the junior standout was named the Little East Conference's Offensive Player of the Year on Wednesday.

In addition to her Offensive Player of the Year award, Harris was also named to the All-Little East Conference First Team. Teammate Kaitlin Bardellini joined her on the First Team after the duo helped propel Castleton to its first-ever Little East Conference Championship and its first NCAA Tournament berth since 2013.

Harris has been an unstoppable force in 2022, racking up the most goals in the nation to-date with 34, the most points in the nation with 85 and the third-most assists in the nation with 17. Her 85 points and 34 goals are both program records that could be extended Wednesday night against Tufts in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, and her 17 assists are second-most in a single season in Castleton history.

Harris is just the 10th player in NCAA Division III history to score at least 85 points in a season, and just the 27th player in DIII history to score at least 34 goals in a single year. She is the first player in program history to earn Little East Conference Offensive Player of the Year accolades, one season after she was named the league's Rookie of the Year.

Bardellini was a weapon on the Spartan attack all season as well, amassing 49 points on 21 goals and seven assists. Her 49 points currently rank her eighth all-time in a single season in Castleton history, with her 21 goals putting her eighth in the single-season record book as well. Bardellini potted three game-winning goals in 2022, and score four goals in Castleton's playoff run that led to the LEC Championship. She had two hat-tricks on the season and had eight multi-goal games in total. She ranked fourth in the conference in total points and goals, and was ninth in the league in assists this year.

On top of Harris' appointment to the LEC's First Team and Offensive Player of the Year recognition, the Crondall, England, native was also named the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) National Offensive Player of the Week. It followed another LEC Offensive Player of the Week honor on Monday after Harris scored four times and had three assists in Castleton's three playoff games. Two of her goals were game-winners, and her goal against Southern Maine in the LEC Championship gave Castleton a 1-0 lead in the first quarter.

Joining Harris with NFHCA national recognition is rookie netminder Zoe Martin, who claimed NFHCA National Defensive Player of the Week honors. Martin was previously named the LEC Goaltender of the Week after turning away 28-of-30 shots faced in the postseason. She made six saves against Fitchburg State before stopping 11 shots in a shutout win at Worcester State. In the title game at USM, Martin again stopped 11 shots, allowing just one goal and helping Castleton to victory. Martin's 13 wins in cage this season are fifth-most by a goalie in program history.

Rounding out Wednesday's awards for Castleton was junior defender Amelia Wilson, who was named to the LEC's 12th-Player list, an award "presented to a student-athlete in recognition of their positive contributions to the team both on and off the field, who brings forth their best effort in competition, practice and other team activities that positively contribute to the success of the program." Wilson was named LEC Defensive Player of the Week for the postseason, helping hold opponents to just two goals over three games. Wilson was strong on the back line all season, helping hold the Spartans' opponents to just 2.4 goals per game on the year.
