COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Jess Smithson of the Vermont State University Castleton field hockey team was named a National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) 2025 Division III All-Region selection on Wednesday morning.

Smithson earned Second Team honors to cap a stellar career as a Spartan, posting a career-best 11 defensive saves—second-most in the Little East Conference. The Beckingham, England native also contributed offensively with 12 points (5g, 2a), ranking third on the squad.

She adds the All-Region accolade to an impressive list of achievements this season, including NFHCA Collegiate Senior Team selection, All-LEC First Team honors, and her second consecutive LEC Defensive Player of the Year award.

Smithson graduates with three All-LEC First Team selections, two NFHCA All-Region honors, two LEC Defensive Player of the Year awards, and four LEC Defensive Player of the Week recognitions. She is tied for eighth in career assists (23) in the Castleton record book.
