ANDOVER, N.H. – The Castleton University women's alpine ski team once again topped the field on Saturday, winning its second consecutive slalom race at Proctor Academy to begin the season.
The Spartans finished nearly 10 seconds clear of Babson, posting a time of 4:58.52. Babson finished in 3:08.12 to take second place, while UConn was third at 5:21.58. Clarkson placed fourth at 5:36.91.
Castleton again placed five racers in the top-10, with four of them finishing consecutively in the standings.
Karoline Rettenbacher grabbed a second-place finish, clocking in with a time of 1:39.11 after runs of 50.05 and 49.06.
Tatiana Tobolka was third, putting together runs of 50.08 and 49.25 for a time of 1:39.33.
Petra Veljkovic took fourth place with a times of 50.00-50.08—1:40.08, while
Birgit Kinneberg was fifth at 1:40.23 after times of 49.86 and 50.37.
Deena Jacunski rounded out the top finishers with a seventh-place time of 1:42.85.
Castleton is back in action on Friday, January 21, at Whiteface for a Giant Slalom race.
