NORTH CREEK, N.Y. – Top consistent performances in the 1.5-kilometer sprint and the 10-kilometer classic, helped the Castleton University women's nordic ski team earn a second-place finish in the Eastern Collegiate Ski Conference Mansfield Division Championship on Saturday and Sunday.

Placing three racers in the top 12, Castleton finished second in the 1.5-kilometer skate during day one of the divisional championship. Following only Clarkson (10), Castleton totaled 19 points, while the University of Vermont (22) was third and Cornell (42) fourth.

Advancing to the semifinal with the fastest split in her quarterfinal section, Emily Cromie turned in a strong performance to race in the second final heat. Placing 12th overall, she knocked nearly 20 seconds off of her semifinal time.

Notching the second and sixth fastest times on the day, Megan Greene (3:45.59) and Emily Greene (4:04.99) each advanced through their earlier rounds with ease. Megan Greene started with the fifth-fastest time in the quarters before tallying the top split in the semis. Emily Greene also steadily improved from the first to second round.

During action on Sunday, Megan Greene got off to a strong start and raced to a second-place finish in a time of 36:18. Adi Toof (39:41) and Molly O'Callaghan (39:43) followed closely behind Greene as they placed sixth and seventh, respectively. Only four places behind that group, Emily Cromie (42:16) notched a top-15 result.

Women's nordic skiing returns to the course as it competes in the ECSC Regional Championships on Saturday and Sunday at the Mountain Top Inn & Resort.
