Castleton, Vt. - The Spartans maintained their undefeated North Atlantic Conference record with a 3-0 win over Husson University on Sunday afternoon at Spartan Stadium. Jessica Binkowski finished the game with four saves, posting her first career complete-game shutout and earning the win in net for the Spartans. Her counterpart, Jess Poulin took the loss, but made 13 saves in a valiant effort that kept Husson afloat for much of the contest.

In the first half, Castleton got on the board with a goal in the fifth minute of the game. Mallory Costello finished off a header after a scrum in the box. Nicole Gay earned the assist on the play as the Spartans took a 1-0 lead.

The Spartans outshot the Eagles 22-0 in the first half, and had several opportunities to extend their lead in the first frame, but could not convert any of those chances. At the halftime break, the score reamined 1-0.

In the second frame, Castleton piled on the goals, scoring in the 62nd and 67th minutes to take a 3-0 lead. The home team extended their lead on a set piece. Halie Roberge ripped a corner kick to the far post where Allison Vachon finished it off with a headed effort. Morgan Young scored on a grounded cross from Dominique Valancius that found her foot near the six-yard line. Young buried it to put the Spartans up 3-0.

The Spartans improve to 8-3-0 on the season with an unblemished 4-0-0 record against NAC opponents. Castleton will return to action on Thursday, Oct. 3 when they host Green Mountain College in search for their sixth consecutive win.
