New London, N.H. – Castleton's quest for a fourth consecutive North Atlantic Conference Championship came up short as an own goal in the first half was enough to lift top seed Colby-Sawyer to a 1-0 victory over the second-seeded Spartans.

The Chargers victory snapped Castleton's run of championships at three, as the Spartans dropped to 13-8-1 on the year. Colby-Sawyer improves to 19-3 and now awaits its NCAA Tournament foe after clinching its first NAC Title.

The lone goal of the contest came at 24:40 when Chargers senior Stephanie Huntley sent a cross into the six-yard box that struck a defender and scooted past Castleton keeper Jessica Binkowski

The Chargers controlled possession in the first half and outshot Castleton 10-3. Colby-Sawyer's best chance of the stanza came seven minutes in when senior Adrienne Bender found space and ripped a shot over Binkowski that deflected off the crossbar.

The second half was evenly played with each side having multiple scoring chances. Early in the frame, Castleton had an opportunity to find the equalizer. NAC Rookie of the Year Dominique Valancius dribbled into the scoring area and fired a shot but was denied by a heady save from sophomore keeper Karley Hamilton (Bradford, Vt.). Hamilton had to make one more save late in the half, but was up to the task to preserve the title.

Hamilton made three saves for the Chargers en route to her 16th clean sheet of the season while Binkowski had six stops in the loss.
