Box Score Castleton, VT-Tyson Chouinard and Derek Riley led 13 different Castleton goal scorers with three goals apiece as the Spartans defeated Lyndon State 21-2 in non-conference men's lacrosse action.
The Spartans led 9-1 after one period and 15-1 at halftime before coasting to the win. Castleton has now won six games in a row, and are 9-4 overall.
Castleton out-shot the hornets 42-10 for the game and 32-6 in the first half. Devon Wood, Jake Rick, Jeremy Peyton and Korey Counos each scored two goals in the win. Rick and Wood each added one assist as well.
Scott Scott and Christopher Mansour scored for the 1-5 Hornets. Lyndon State goalie, Matt Adams stopped 11 shots in the loss.
Castleton's Chris Wynne played all but one minute in goal for the Spartans, stopping six shots in the win. The minute was served in the penalty box for "excessive celebration" after the freshman goalie took the ball the length of the field, and scored his first collegiate goal.
The Spartans return to conference action Saturday, April 19 when they travel to Becker College for a2:30 pm face-off.
Lyndon State will travel to Thomas College for a 7:00 pm contest on April 17.
