CASTLETON, Vt. – The Vermont State University Castleton men's lacrosse team dropped a 14-9 decision to Husson University on Wednesday afternoon at Dave Wolk Stadium.

How It Happened
Husson struck first with a man-up goal, but Castleton answered quickly as
Liam Evarts buried the equalizer off a feed from
Preston Kozlowski.
Matt Gregoire followed with a tally to give the Spartans a 2-1 edge midway through the opening quarter. The Eagles responded late in the frame to even things at 2-2 after one.
The visitors seized control in the second quarter, scoring three straight goals to build a 5-2 advantage. Castleton cut into the deficit with a power-play goal from
Jason Samek, assisted by Evarts, but Husson carried a 5-3 lead into halftime.
Castleton came out firing in the third quarter, using a five-goal burst to briefly swing momentum. Samek scored twice in the period, while
Cole Bowditch and Gregoire each added tallies to help the Spartans stay within striking distance. However, Husson answered with five goals of its own in the quarter, including multiple scores from Kiernan Field, to take a 10-8 lead into the final frame.
In the fourth, Bowditch opened the scoring to bring Castleton within one, 10-9, but Husson closed the game on a 4-0 run. Two man-up goals down the stretch helped the Eagles pull away and secure the 14-9 victory.
