Box Score Poultney, VT-The Castleton State College men's lacrosse team wrapped up their North Atlantic Conference schedule with a 21-5 win over Johnson State. With the win Castleton improves to 8-4 overall and 6-1 in conference.
The Spartans raced out to a 13-1 halftime lead and cruised to the victory thanks in part to four goals and four assists from senior Adam Rosati.
Devon Wood, Steve Gerding and Matt VanDerKar each scored three goals, while Gerding added an assist. VanDerKar, the nation's leader in ground balls per game and face-off percentage, scooped up 10 ground balls and won all 24 face-offs her took part in.
The Badgers were led by Kegan Pettit with two goals and two assists. Morgan Sasso chipped in with a pair of goals, while Matt Riani made 18 saves in his first-ever start in goal.
Michael Martinez chipped in with two goals and two assists off the bench. Josh Davis and Geoffrey Walker each had a pair of goals in reserve roles as well.
Johnson State's season closes at 3-7 overall and 1-6 in NAC play. Castleton will host Daniel Webster at 1:00 pm in a North Atlantic Conference semifinal game on Saturday, April 28.
