Castleton wins NAC opener, 10-3 over Maine Maritime

Castine, ME-The Castleton State College men's lacrosse took home their first North Atlantic Conference victory of the season, defeating Maine Maritime Academy 10-3 in Castine, Maine.

The Spartans held a slim 2-1 lead at halftime, but exploded for eight goals in the second half to earn the win.

Matt VanDerkar and Michael Martinez each scored three goals to lead the 2-2 (1-0 NAC) Spartans. Adam Rosati added a pair of goals, and Korey Counos one, while Robbie Scanlon scored on and dished out two assists.

Garrett Lake scored all three goals for the Mariners, who fall to 2-2 (1-1 NAC) on the year.

Michael Mamunes made 10 saves, and shut the host Mariners out in the fourth period to earn the win.
