CASTLETON, Vt.- The Vermont State University Castleton opened their season with a 3-0 sweep over the Norwich Cadets Saturday afternoon at Glenbrook Gymnasium.
The set scores were 25-14, 25-7, and 25-10.
Offensively, Olivia Smith (Newark, Ill.) led the way with seven kills, while Madison Sheehan (Queensbury, N.Y.) and Alondra Rojas (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) recorded six kills apiece.
Nicolette Vaughn (Plainfield, Ill.) and Rojas each tied for a team-high 12 assists., while Rojas led the way with 19 assists.
Castleton dominated all three sets and went on a 17-1 run in the second set. They also recorded 16 service aces for the match.
The Spartans conclude the Vermont Volleyball Classic tomorrow with two matches. They will play Vermont State Lyndon at 11 am and Vermont State Lyndon at 3 pm.
