PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -- The Vermont State University Castleton women's tennis team fell to Plattsburgh State on Saturday afternoon, falling 7-0.
At the first doubles spot,
Brooke Hecker and
Andrea Rodriguez battled before falling 6-4, while
Olivia Rutkowski and
Grace Pluff dropped their match 6-1 at the second spot.
Maggie McKearin and
Halle Hipple picked up Castleton's lone doubles victory, winning 6-4 at the third spot, but the Spartans ultimately dropped the doubles point.
In singles play, Hecker fell 0-6, 0-6 at No. 1. Rutkowski dropped her match in straight sets at No. 2, 0-6, 2-6. At No. 3, Rodriguez put up a fight before falling 5-7, 6-7, while Pluff dropped straight sets 3-6, 3-6 at No. 4. McKearin battled through a three-set match at No. 5, ultimately falling 6-4, 5-7, 8-10.
Emma Johnson was topped 4-6, 0-6 at No. 6.
The Spartans will travel to Vermont State University Lyndon on Wednesday, Sept. 9, with the match set to begin at 3 p.m.
