Field Hockey Falls to Red Dragons

CASTLETON, VT- The Vermont State Castleton field hockey team hosted SUNY Oneonta on Wednesday afternoon at Dave Wolk Stadium. The Red Dragons won by the score of 8-2.

How It Happened
The Red Dragons scored on their first shot of the contest 1:04 into the first quarter. Their second shot was also a goal at 4:58. The Spartans had a couple of chances at scores at 6:35 and 7:21 but both were turned away by Red Dragon keeper Eva Klessel. Brooke Noble (Mississauga, Ontario/Clarkson Secondary) then had a pair of penalty corners that did not result in a shot attempt. Oneonta scored its third goal of the day on a penalty stroke and its fourth goal at 13:37

Castleton got on the board just over two and a half minutes into the second quarter. Following a penalty corner by Noble, Emilee Higgins (Fair Haven, Vt./Fair Haven) fed to Gwyn Vincent (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) for the goal to make it 4-1. The Spartans had chances to cut into the Red Dragon lead with a pair of shots and three consecutive penalty corners that went for naught. Oneonta scored its only goal of the quarter at 22:14 to lead 5-1 at halftime.

The Red Dragons got a pair of goals by Ali Howell in the third quarter to expand their lead to 7-1. Howell scored again in the fourth quarter and the final goal of the game came from Noble at 55:34.
