NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- The Vermont State University Castleton women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Little East Conference opponent UMass Dartmouth on Saturday.
The Spartans came up short in all three doubles matches this afternoon.
Olivia Rutkowski and
Brooke Hecker narrowly fell at the first spot, 4-6.
Grace Pluff and
Andrea Rodriguez dropped the second match, 3-6, while
Maggie McKearin and
Halle Hipple came up short at the third spot, 6-7, 2-7.
In singles play, McKearin earned Castleton's lone point with a 6-3, 6-1 victory. Hecker fell at the first spot, 0-6, 0-6, while Rutkowski dropped the second spot, 0-6, 1-6. Rodriguez fell 3-6, 0-6 at the third spot, and Pluff came up short at the fourth spot, 2-6, 3-6. Hipple rounded out the lineup at No. 6, falling 0-6, 2-6.
The Spartans will return home on September 22 to host Plattsburgh State at 4 p.m.
