WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – The Vermont State University Castleton women's soccer team fell to Little East Conference opponent Eastern Connecticut, 4-0, Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened:
Eastern Connecticut controlled possession for much of the first half and was able to strike first, taking an early lead while limiting Castleton's scoring opportunities.
Chloe Green had the first good look for the Spartans on a breakaway, but her attempt was blocked by a Warriors defender.
In the 33
rd minute, the Spartans created another scoring opportunity on a free kick from
Gwen Bridges.
Makenna Price sent the ball up to
Allison Galante, whose shot was unable to make it past the keeper.
Eastern Connecticut quickly went the other way and found the back of the net to take a 2-0 lead into the half.
The pace slowed in the second half, with Eastern Connecticut holding a narrow 6-2 advantage in shots.
Ella Hall and the Castleton defense contained the Warriors for much of the half, but Eastern Connecticut was able to convert off the corner kick to extend their lead.
By the Numbers:
- The Warriors outshot Castleton 17-1 in the first half, with Hall making nine saves.
- Galante recorded Castleton's two shots on goal.
