CASTLETON, Vt. – The Vermont State University Castleton women's lacrosse team dropped an 11-9 decision to SUNY Potsdam on Wednesday evening at Dave Wolk Stadium.

How It Happened
Potsdam opened the scoring with three goals in the first quarter, but Castleton responded behind
Megan Culp and
Renny Cota, who each converted on free-position opportunities to cut the deficit to 3-2 after one.
In the second quarter, the Bears added a pair of goals before
Phoebe Loomis found the back of the net, keeping the Spartans within two at 5-3 heading into halftime.
Coming out of the break, Loomis sparked the offense with two more goals in the third quarter to complete her hat trick. Castleton continued to apply pressure as the Spartans matched Potsdam with three goals in the frame, but still trailed 8-6 entering the fourth.
In the final period, Castleton made one last push. The Spartans added three goals to pull within striking distance, but were unable to complete the comeback as Potsdam answered down the stretch to secure the 11-9 victory.
