PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Madison Gould was named the Little East Conference Pitcher of the Week following a strong showing for the Vermont State University Castleton softball team at the Fastpitch Dreams Classic. 

Gould went 4-0 in the circle during the tournament, pitching 25.1 innings with a 0.83 ERA. She struck out 36 batters while issuing just four walks across 103 batters faced and recorded one shutout on the week. 

Against Immaculata, Gould threw a complete game, striking out a season-high 10 batters while allowing only one walk across seven innings. She followed that performance with a seven-inning shutout against Brevard, again striking out 10 batters and not letting up a single walk. In the Spartans' win over Cedar Crest, Gould pitched five innings, striking out nine while allowing only one walk and no earned runs. 

Castleton returns to action with a home doubleheader against Skidmore College on March 21, with first pitch set for noon.
