NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Vermont State University Castleton softball team closed out the Fastpitch Dreams Classic with a challenging matchup against Arcadia University, falling 8-0.

How it Happened:
Arcadia jumped to an early lead in the top of the first inning, scoring eight runs on a combination of strong hitting and Spartan errors, quickly putting Castleton in an early deficit.
Castleton's offense managed to get runners on base in the bottom of the first with a hit from
Chloe Green, but the Spartans were unable to convert. Castleton put together a series of hits in the third inning, including singles from
Alex Brouillette, Green, and
Anna Winter, advancing multiple runners, but again came up just short of crossing the plate. The Spartans managed to keep Arcadia scoreless for the remainder of the game, but could not spark a rally, ending their run in the Classic with a tough loss.Â
Top Performers:
- Green recorded two hits for the Spartans.
- Ally Jaurigue and Winter each tallied one hit.
- Madison Gould pitched six strong innings in the relief, striking out four batters and holding Arcadia scoreless after the first.

Castleton will return home to host a doubleheader against Skidmore College on Saturday, March 21, starting at noon.
