How it Happened
Plattsburgh struck first with a pair of early goals before Castleton responded on the man-up opportunity. Matt Gregoire got the Spartans on the board with a power-play tally, assisted by Liam Evarts, to cut the deficit to 2-1.

The Spartans continued to capitalize with the extra man shortly after as Cole Bowditch finished a man-up chance from Preston Kozlowski to even the contest. Later in the period, Gregoire struck again on another power play, giving Castleton a 3-2 lead midway through the opening quarter.

Plattsburgh responded late in the first with three straight goals to regain the momentum and carry a 5-3 advantage into the second quarter.

The Cardinals controlled the second period, scoring eight goals while holding the Spartans scoreless to build a commanding 13-3 lead at halftime.

Castleton found some offensive rhythm again in the third quarter. Carter Frankenhoff opened the Spartan scoring in the frame before Bowditch added another goal, assisted by Jason Samek, to help trim the deficit.

Gregoire later completed his hat trick on another man-up opportunity in the fourth quarter, and Frankenhoff added his second goal late in the contest, but Plattsburgh maintained control to secure the 18-8 victory.
