How it Happened:
The Spartans came out firing in the opening minutes, as Nate Lurie and Joey Beggs each tested the Rhode Island College keeper. The Anchormen capitlized on a corner kick in the 11th minute to take a 1-0 lead.

Rhode Island College continued to pressure the Castleton defense, adding a second goal in the 40th minute to take a two-goal advantage into halftime.

Castleton got on the board three minutes into the second half when a foul just outside the box gave Owen Hackett a set-piece opportunity. Hackett capitlized, scoring his first goal as a Spartan to cut the deficit to 2-1. Rhode Island College responded 10 minutes later with another goal to extend their lead.

Xander Berthiaume made a key save in the 69th minute before sending the ball upfield to Junior Carreira, who carried it forward and found Matt Lurie at the top of the box. Lurie sent the ball past the goalkeeper for his first goal as a Spartan, bringing Castleton with two.
