Jacques Alfani scored Castleton's lone goal as the Vermont State University Castleton men's soccer team fell 4-1 to UMass Boston in Little East Conference action Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened:
UMass Boston pressured the Castleton defense early, peppering
Xander Berthiaume with shots as the Beacons outshot the Spartans 13-2 in the first half. Berthiaume made seven saves in the opening half, but UMass Boston scored in the 14th minute and added a second goal just before halftime to take a 2-0 lead.
Just 46 seconds into the second half, a foul by Castleton in the box resulted in a penalty kick for the Beacons, who converted to extend their lead to 3-0. The Spartans responded in the 54th minute when
Nate Lurie sent a ball forward to Alfani, who tapped it past the goalkeeper to put Castleton on the board. UMass Boston added another goal to secure the 4-1 conference win.

- Berthiaume recorded a career-high and season-high 12 saves in 77 minutes played.Â
- Alfani led Castleton with two shots on goal and scored the Spartans' lone goal. Joey Beggs, Lurie and Owen Hackett each recorded one shot on goal.
