POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Vermont State University Castleton field hockey team suffered a tough road loss on Saturday afternoon, falling to Vassar College, 6-0.

How It Happened
It took no time for the hosts to show their offensive powers, registering a shot wide just 32 seconds into the contest. After two shots off the mark, Vassar College finally made good on its attempts, going up 1-0 after seven minutes of play. In the cage,
Zoe Martin made three saves in the remaining minutes to keep Castleton within one.
With three blocks and two saves in the second stanza, the Spartans worked tirelessly to keep the contest close, only letting up one score with 26 seconds remaining in the half.
Things became lopsided in the third stanza as the Brewers poured in three goals to own a 5-0 advantage heading into the final quarter.
The Castleton defense was able to slow Vassar's momentum in the fourth, recording two blocked shots and two saves, while
Caitlin Connolly had the team's best scoring opportunity of the day with her blocked shot in the 56
th minute. The Spartans eventually fell, 6-0.
