PITMAN, N.J. – Lazaro Herrera of the Vermont State University Castleton football team has earned his first career conference honor, being named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Offensive Rookie of the Week for the week ending September 21.

Herrera has wasted no time proving his abilities on the defensive line, starting in all three of the Spartans' contests thus far.
The rookie continues to improve each week, making a career-high five tackles in a loss to the University of New England on Saturday. Herrera tallied assisted tackles and two solo tackles against the Nor'Easters. He also added 1.5 tackles for loss and .5 sacks. 

Herrera and the Spartans will enjoy a well-deserved bye week before kicking off their New Jersey Athletic Conference slate on October 4 as they travel to William Paterson University for a 1 p.m. start time.
