PITMAN, N.J. – Anthony Anderson Jr. of the Vermont State University football team collected his first ever conference honor, being named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Offensive Rookie of the Week for the week ending October 12.
In just his second contest played, Anderson Jr. recorded his first-collegiate touchdown against a very tough then-No. 21 Christopher Newport, now ranked 17
th. The rookie broke free in the third quarter for the team's lone score of the day, an impressive 92-yard rush in which he broke several tackles.
The Thomasville, Ga. Native finished the day with 104 yards on five attempts with one score.
Anderson Jr. and the Spartans (2-3, 0-2 NJAC) will return to action at 12 p.m. on Saturday as they host The College of New Jersey (4-1, 1-1 NJAC) for another conference matchup.
