Golf Places Fifth at Tony Mariano Invitational

BARRE, Vt. – The Vermont State University Castleton men's golf team placed fifth at the Tony Mariano Invitational hosted by Norwich University on Wednesday afternoon.

The Basics:
  • Finish: 5th (of 8) | Team Score - 335
  • Location: CC of Barre – Barre, Vt.

How it Happened
  • Sam Knight and Cam Reid continue to be strong for the Spartans squad, each posting scores of 80 to tie for seventh place.
  • Reid started the day six over but was able to battle back to two over through 15 holes.
  • Knight bogeyed the first three holes, then locked down to shoot par for the majority of the remaining holes.
  • Reid Meyers was hot on their tale with a mark of 81 to find himself in a three-way tie for 10th. Meyers was solid tee to green, hitting 13 in regulation.
  • Dylan Roebuck continues to work on his game, as he shot a 94.
  • Appearing in his first collegiate tournament, Tommie Shaw shot a 96.

What's Next
The Spartans are set to travel to Middlebury's Ralph Myrhe golf course for the Duke Nelson Invitational on Saturday. This will be the team's largest competition thus far, with over 20 teams registered.
