PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Vermont State University Castleton women's soccer team was tabbed to finish sixth in the Little East Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll as announced Wednesday afternoon. The poll is voted on by the head coaches of each of the LEC's nine women's soccer teams.
Castleton received 29 points, sitting in sixth behind Rhode Island College with 36 points, Eastern Connecticut with 40 points, Western Connecticut with 55 points and two first-place votes, UMass Boston with 56 points and two first-place votes, and Southern Maine, who claimed first with 59 points and five first-place votes.
The Spartans finished last season with an overall record of 9-11-1 and a conference record of 4-5. Taking a 1-0 win over Eastern Connecticut in the first round of the LEC tournament, Castleton fell 2-0 to Southern Maine in the second round.
Following the Spartans, UMass Dartmouth and Plymouth State are tied for seventh with 17 points each, with Keene State rounding out the poll in ninth with 15 points. The complete 2025 LEC Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll is as follows.
