PROVIDENCE, R.I. – It was a strong showing in the classroom this spring for Vermont State University Castleton student-athletes. The Spartans earned six Team Academic Awards from the Little East Conference (LEC), with 54 athletes named to the All-Academic Team and 224 making the Academic Honor Roll.
The Team Academic Award goes to the team in each sport with the highest combined GPA. Castleton's top-performing teams were Baseball (3.57 GPA), Men's Basketball (3.22), Women's Basketball (3.59), Men's Cross Country, Women's Soccer (3.78), and Women's Tennis (3.60).
To make the LEC All-Academic Team, student-athletes must be at least sophomores, have a GPA of 3.30 or higher, and have been at Castleton for at least a full year. Fifty-four Spartans met those standards this spring.
The LEC Academic Honor Roll includes student-athletes who earned at least a 3.00 GPA for the semester and stayed on the team through the end of the term. 224 Spartans earned that recognition.
These awards highlight the hard work and focus of Castleton student-athletes, both in their sports and in the classroom.
