Castleton Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2025 Announced

CASTLETON, Vt. – The Vermont State University Castleton athletic department is excited to announce its Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2025, made up of three highly deserving individuals, set to be inducted on Friday, September 19, at the Castleton Pavilion.

The Class of 2025 features Bob Prenevost '69, an outstanding alum who had an illustrious high school basketball coaching career, Josh Harris '13 (men's ice hockey), and Jade Hungerford (Desroches) '15 (women's basketball). A tradition that began in 1988, the Castleton Athletics Hall of Fame comprises outstanding student-athletes, teams, and individuals who have made significant contributions to the department.

The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held at the Castleton Pavilion, with complimentary hors d'oeuvres served and a cash-only bar available. The cost of admission is $25 per person, and can be purchased online here. Tickets must be purchased by Wednesday, September 10. The inductees will also be recognized on Saturday, September 20, at halftime of the Castleton football game against the University of New England.

Prenevost is among the most accomplished high school basketball coaches in Vermont history, finishing his career with 537 wins over 41 years, including 380 at Fair Haven Union High School. He led the Slaters to three Division II state championships, six finals appearances, and 14 trips to the historic Barre Auditorium. A five-time state finalist in seven years, Prenevost earned 11 Coach of the Year honors and was named the 2023 Vermont Wooden Legacy Coach of the Year. Inducted into the VBCA Hall of Fame in 2011, he also served as an assistant coach at Castleton from 1998 to 2000.

Harris is one of the most decorated players in Castleton hockey history, finishing his career as the program's all-time leader in points (127), while ranking second in assists (80) and third in goals (47). He also ranks third in power-play goals (18), tied for third in short-handed goals (4), and fifth in games played (98). The Torrence, Calif native, led Castleton in scoring three times, was named team MVP as a senior, and helped guide the Spartans to 55 wins over four seasons.

Hungerford (Desroches) remains one of the top players in Castleton women's basketball history, ranking fifth all-time with 1,420 points and first in games played (124). A two-time Team MVP and NAC Player of the Year in 2014–15, she helped lead the Spartans to a 101–17 record, two NAC championships, and consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. The Berkshire, Vt. native earned All-Conference and Tournament MVP honors and scored a career-high 32 points in an NCAA First Round win over No. 23 Bowdoin. She was also named a D3hoops.com All-Region selection.
