How It Happened
Castleton started fast and held a 9-3 lead by halftime, fueled by a six-goal second quarter. Cam Frankenhoff led the offense with a dominant seven-goal, two-assist performance, including two key fourth-quarter goals to hold off a late Viking surge.

Braydon Goddard added four goals and four assists, while Liam Evarts contributed four goals and one assist of his own. Carter Frankenhoff chipped in a goal and three helpers, and Jordan Damske iced the game with a clutch goal in the final minute.

Despite a strong comeback from Salem State in the fourth quarter, which saw them close the gap to one goal, Castleton's defense held firm down the stretch. Zac Smith earned the win in goal, making 10 saves in relief.

The Spartans were outshot 41-34 and lost the faceoff battle 8-34 but capitalized on turnovers and went a perfect 9-for-9 on clears. Defensively, Castleton forced 18 turnovers and picked up 24 ground balls.
