Men's Lacrosse Drops Non-Conference Contest to Cadets

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Vermont State University Castleton men's lacrosse team faced off against in-state rival Norwich on Wednesday night at Sabine Field, ultimately losing 18-9 despite a strong offensive effort from Cam Frankenhoff and Carter Frankenhoff.

How it Happened
Castleton scored early when Braydon Goddard netted the first goal for the Spartans just 36 seconds after Norwich's opening score. However, the Cadets quickly answered with a relentless offensive push, scoring nine unanswered goals to take a commanding 10-1 lead after the first quarter.
 
The Spartans showed resilience in the second period, with Cam Frankenhoff finding the back of the net at the 5:55 mark, followed by a goal from Carter Frankenhoff assisted by Ethan Esposito. A late unassisted goal from Hunter Sarro helped Castleton enter halftime trailing 13-4.
 
The third quarter had both teams exchanging goals, with Liam Evarts and Carter Frankenhoff scoring for the Spartans, staying competitive against Norwich's attack. Despite their efforts, Castleton remained behind 15-6 heading into the final frame.
 
In the fourth quarter, Castleton continued to battle with Preston Kozlowski scoring off a feed from Cam Frankenhoff, followed by another goal from Frankenhoff assisted by Kozlowski. Cam Frankenhoff added one more tally in the closing minutes with an assist from Esposito, but Norwich maintained control and sealed the 18-9 victory.
 

Top Performers

    • Cam Frankenhoff led the Spartans with four goals and one assist, continuing his strong offensive start to the season.

    • Carter Frankenhoff contributed two goals, while Kozlowski, Evarts, Goddard, and Sarro each netted one.

    • Evarts recorded an assist and caused two turnovers.

    • Defensively, Gabe Rubio led the way with four caused turnovers and three ground balls.
