DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Vermont State University Castleton men's basketball team suffered a 78-55 loss Saturday afternoon at UMass Dartmouth in conference play.

How it Happened:
The Spartans opened the game with an 8-2 run, highlighted by baskets from Will Radcliff and a layup from Seamus Demauro. UMass Dartmouth responded with a 7-0 run, taking a 9-8 lead four minutes in. Ben Seiler hit a pair of three-pointers to cut the deficit to 10, and later, with Radcliff scoring in the paint and Seiler knocking down another three, the Spartans were back in it, trailing 22-29.
In the second half, Castleton struggled to get shots to fall, shooting 27% from the field and 17% from three, though free throws improved to 64%. UMass Dartmouth capitalized on Spartan miscues, scoring 21 points off turnovers to extend their lead.
Adam Bilodeau finally broke a two-minute scoring drought for both teams, but the Corsairs maintained control, with Danny Reyes and Camden Dunbury keeping up the pressure. Radcliff and Demauro added a few more baskets in the paint, but Castleton could not overcome UMass Dartmouth's advantage and suffered a 78-55 defeat.
