How it Happened:

The Spartans came out firing, opening the game on a dominant 17-5 run fueled by steady passing and strong playmaking from Elijah Maldonado. Castleton controlled the early tempo, with Will Radcliff and Ben Seiler finding quality looks while the defense held SUNY Cobleskill to limited second-chance opportunities. As the first half neared its end, Castleton held a comfortable lead. In the final seconds, Conner McKearin delivered an inbound pass to Will Radcliff, who knocked down a buzzer-beater to send the Spartans into halftime up 37-22.

The Spartans continued to find scoring early in the second half, but the Tigers used second-chance points, turnovers, and trips to the free throw line to close the gap. Cobleskill pulled within one possession, prompting Castleton to take a timeout. Out of the break, Radcliff scored on a strong drive to the rim, and moments later, Maldonado picked off a pass and pushed ahead to Radcliff for fast-break points to restore the lead. Seamus Demauro added two key mid-range baskets on back-to-back possessions to keep Castleton in front. In the closing minutes, Cobleskill began fouling to extend the game, and Castleton converted just enough at the line to maintain its edge. The Spartans held off the final push and secured the 67-66 victory.

  • Radcliff paced the Spartans with a double-double, scoring 27 points and grabbing 12 rebounds, while also adding two assists and two steals.
