CASTLETON, Vt. – The Vermont State University Castleton women's soccer team took down Little East Conference opponent UMass Dartmouth, 2-1, Saturday afternoon, earning their second conference win at Dave Wolk Stadium this season.

How it Happened:
- The Spartans put the pressure on the Corsairs early in the offensive end, as Castleton launched two corner kicks that came within inches of crossing the goal line and a close header opportunity from Emma Kirby that was saved by Marina Cassano through the first 35 minutes.
- In the 36th minute, UMass Dartmouth found the back of the net, taking a 1-0 lead.
- Julie Cooper made her first career start in goal, finishing the first half with three saves, while the back line made four blocks to keep the Corsairs' offense under control.
- The Spartans kicked up the tempo in the second half, as Emma Patrissi bounced the ball off a defender and in off a long ball from Caitlin Flaherty to tie the game up at one each in the 61st minute.
- In the 63rd minute, Maggie McKearin fought to get around her defender and send the ball into the far-left side of the net off a pass from Chloe Green to give Castleton a 2-0 lead.
- Cooper stayed strong in the net, making two more saves as the second half came to a close and the Spartans walked away with their second LEC win at Dave Wolk this season, and Cooper earned her first collegiate win.
By the Numbers:
- Cooper finished with a career-high eight saves through 90 minutes of play.
- Green led the team with three shots on goal, followed by Emma Kirby with two, and four Spartans with one each.
