PITMAN, N.J. – Deacon Schneider of the Vermont State University Castleton football team had himself quite the weekend, earning New Jersey Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors for the week ending October 19.
Schneider led the team in a tough 48-7 loss to The College of New Jersey on Saturday afternoon. The sophomore was a defensive force for the Spartans, making a game-high 20 tackles (16 assisted and four solo).

A native of Cambridge, N.Y., Schneider is currently tied for second in the conference in tackles with 54 through six games. He has also recorded one fumble recovery and 0.5 sacks.

Schneider and the Spartans will remain at home as they host Montclair State on Saturday for a 12 p.m. Senior Day kickoff, when the Spartans will honor their 16 graduating seniors.
