Men's Soccer Draws Against Clarkson

CASTLETON, Vt. – Men's soccer tie in clash with Clarkson University Saturday afternoon, 1-1.

Vermont State University Castleton faced off against Clarkson University on Saturday at Dave Wolk Stadium. The two teams both entered 2-0 and looked to extend their win streaks to three. In the 12th minute Matt Spiller delivered a ball off a free kick opportunity to the back post where he found Tanner Curtis who made an aggressive run and fought off the defender to bury the chance and give Castleton an early 1-0 lead.

Momentum continued to be on Castleton's side for the first half until Daniel Medina curled one past the Spartans' defense to tie the game at one apiece in the 40th minute.

The two teams continued to battle throughout the second half but nobody found the go ahead goal each side was looking for. Xander Berthiaume stood strong in net with five saves and found help from Wyatt Robbie, who made a defensive save to keep the game tied.

Castleton stay undefeated through three games for the first time since 2013 when they went 13-4-2 on the year.

VTSU Castleton has a quick turnaround as they are back in action Sunday, September 8 at 1:00 p.m. against Colby-Sawyer.
