RUTLAND, Vt. – The Vermont State University Castleton men's golf team finished fifth out of seven teams at the annual VTSU Castleton Invitational hosted at Rutland Country Club.
The Spartans shot 342 on day two of the event, a three-stroke improvement over the first day. Castleton was one of only two teams in the field to shoot a better score on day two of the event, finishing at 687 as a team. New England College was the top team with a two-day score of 609.
Brady Hathorn shot 82-82 for a two-day score of 164 to lead the Spartans.
Andrew Stefura posted rounds of 82-85 for a 167, and
Jake Barry went 91-86—177. Barry's five-stroke differential was the largest improvement for Castleton on Sunday.
Zac Willis shot 90-89—179 and
Dominic Rodrigue finished with 92-90 for a 182 on the weekend.
Playing as individuals,
Zach Papapetros carded rounds of 81 and 84 for a 165 total and
Zach Trempner went 86-88 for a 174. Ryan Makowski of Clarkson took home individual medalist honors for the event with rounds of 73-73—146.
The Spartans head to Keene State on Friday for the final regular-season tournament of the fall season.
