CASTLETON, Vt. – The Vermont State University Castleton women's tennis team was defeated by WestConn Saturday afternoon, 7-2.
In the third flight, rookies
Alice Pomi and
Andrea Rodriguez earned another doubles win 8-7 (7-5). In doubles play,
Madelyn Nonni and
Stella Forte fell 8-3 in the first slight, while
Olivia Rutkowski and
Devon Kibbey fell 8-4 in the second flight.
Rodriguez earned her first career singles win 6-2, 2-6, 10-8 at No. 6 singles, playing a role in both victories for the Spartans. Nonni fell at flight one 6-1, 6-2, and
Ginny Trevisan fell at flight two 6-2, 6-1. At the third flight, Rutkowski fell 6-0, 6-2 while Kibbey fell 6-0, 6-0 at fourth singles. Pomi dropped her singles match 6-4, 6-3.
The Spartans are back in action on Tuesday at UMass Boston at 4 p.m.
