RUTLAND, Vt. – The Vermont State University Castleton men's golf team is in fifth place at the VTSU Castleton Invitational after day one at Rutland Country Club.
 
The Spartans shot 345 as a team, 10 shots better than Elms. New England College leads Clarkson by three strokes, sitting at 302 in the top spot. Three players are tied atop the individual leaderboard after posting rounds of 73 (+3) on Saturday.
 
Castleton was paced by Brady Hathorn and Andrew Stefura, who shot 82 each out of the Nos. 1 and 2 spots in the lineup. Zac Willis posted a 90 in his collegiate debut and Jacob Berry fired a 91. Dominic Rodrigue posted a round of 92.
 
Competing as individuals, Zach Papapetros shot 81 and Zach Trempner shot 86.
