The Spartans earned points in chunks all night long, using runs of four, five and six points in the first set to take a commanding 25-9 victory. In the second set, Castleton opened an 8-1 lead that included three aces and four kills in the stretch. An 8-0 run later in the set made it 20-3 before the Spartans closed it out 25-7 for a 2-0 lead in the match. The final set was more of the same, with the Spartans scoring eight straight points to start. The lead grew to 15-1 before a Hornet timeout stopped the run and got Lyndon back on the board, but the gap was too large as Castleton pulled away for a 25-7 win in the final frame to complete the 3-0 sweep.
VTSU Castleton is back in action Wednesday night when it hosts Norwich at 6 p.m.
