CANTON, N.Y. – The Vermont State University Castleton men's soccer team tied SUNY Canton 1-1 Sunday afternoon.
VTSU Castleton continued their SUNYAC weekend with a matchup against SUNY Canton on Sunday. The Spartans opened the scoring in the 15th minute with
Lucas McCane rifling a shot that was saved by the Roo's originally. However,
Tanner Curtis made a follow up run and found the rebound to slot it past the keeper and give Castleton the lead.
Castleton's lead would not last for long, as Canton's Hayden Brimelow responded a one touch shot to slot it past Castleton and tie the game up in the 16th minute.
After two goals within a minute apart, the game settled down and both teams battled to be the one to find the go-ahead goal.
Xander Berthiaume kept the game level for the Spartans with eight saves in Sunday's matchup. Despite almost 30 shots taken, neither team was able to find the game winning goal and concluded with a 1-1 draw.
VTSU Castleton returns to action for their first LEC matchup against Rhode Island College Saturday, September 21 at 1:00 p.m.
