MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Vermont State University Castleton men's golf team moved up one spot on the leaderboard after day two at the Duke Nelson Invitational, finishing 22nd in a tough field at Ralph Myhre Golf Course.
The Spartans improved nine strokes over Saturday's total, shooting a 333 on Sunday for a team total of 675 over two days. That was enough to jump ahead of MCLA, which finished at 679 for the weekend.
Brady Hathorn had a second-day 77 (+6) to move up four spots.
Andrew Stefura posted his second 84 in a row, while
Jake Barry shaved four strokes off his first-round score with a second-round 85.
Dominic Rodrigue carded an 87 on day two—two strokes better than Saturday's round—while
Jack Boyle was two shots lower as well with a 93.
Hamilton took the team title and the individual title, with Ramon Aroca Gonzalez shooting a two-under 140 over the two-day event.
The Spartans host the annual VTSU Castleton Invitational on Saturday and Sunday at Rutland Country Club.
