SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Vermont State University Castleton baseball was defeated by Union College Tuesday afternoon, 7-1.
The Spartans (2-20) posted seven hits in the contest but couldn't convert the hits into runs, as nine men were left on base for Castleton.
Aubrey Ramey saw four innings of action, tallying four strikeouts, zero walks, five hits, and three runs on 59 pitches.
Union opened the scoring with three runs in the third inning. At the top of the fourth,
Alex Bingham (1-4) responded by reaching second base at his next at-bat to put himself in scoring position. Bingham would reach home after an RBI single from
Brandon Ramirez (2-3), giving Castleton their first score of the game at 3-1.
The Garnet Chargers held the Spartans in place and slowly extended their lead throughout the game to bring the final score to 7-1.
The Spartans return to action Wednesday, April 9 at 4 p.m. against Wells College.
