Game 1: RPI 8, VTSU Castleton 7

Sam Crawford got the nod for game one in Saturdays action. The senior continued to be a weapon on the mound for the Spartans, with eight strikeouts and two walks in six innings of action. RPI opened the scoring early, but the Spartans would tie it up immediately with a walk that allowed Turner Clews (3-4) to cross home plate.

Brandon Ramierz (2-5) smacked a single through the left side to bring in Jackson Cardozo (1-4) for the run. Kannon Dush (2-2, 2 BB) popped one deep to right field which brought in Clews to tag and dart home for the score.

Clews kept the hot hand going for himself and the Spartans. He went on to smack a 2-run home run in the seventh inning to give Castleton their first lead of the game. This was Clews' first career home run. Clews continued to feed Castleton runs, as he collected a RBI single in the ninth to extend Castleton's lead. Brendan Shader scored a run from a line drive by Dush to give the Spartans a 7-4 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth inning.
