LONGVIEW, TEXAS – Vermont State University Castleton baseball fell to LeTourneau University Tuesday evening, 10-3.
VTSU Castleton (0-5) fell to LETU (2-7) 7-2 in Longview, Texas Tuesday night.
Mikey Raby Jr. (2-4) and
Kannon Dush (2-3) each collected multiple hits, while Dush and
Tyler McLain (0-3) and earned RBI
The Yellow Jackets brought their A game to Castleton. LETU racked up three home runs, seven RBI's and 12 hits within the first six innings of the game to lead 7-0 over the Spartans. Castleton collected hits of their own, but couldn't find a way to the runner's home as they left 12 runners on base. Castleton's four errors also became the difference in the contest, allowing for the Yellowjackets to capitalize on the opportunities and extend their lead.
The Spartans made an effort to get back into the game with
Brendan Shader get the first score on a passed ball. McLain brought in
Jared Maher on a sacrifice fly and Dush would get a late RBI off a walk which filed out Castleton's three runs in the 10-3 loss.
VTSU Castleton returns to action Wednesday, February 28 at 7 p.m. ET (6 p.m. CT) against Louisiana Christian University.
