CASTLETON, Vt. – The Vermont State University women's basketball team swept the Spartan Classic, taking down Hartwick College 77-41. First year Emily Dingmon recorded the first triple-double of her career, while Castleton saw two named to the All-Tournament Team.

The contest kicked off very competitively, seeing the lead change seven times in the opening seven minutes. VTSU Castleton took control on an Emily Adams layup at 3:16, and continued to build its lead down the stretch, up 17-12 after 10 minutes.

Hartwick posted a layup to open the second stanza (9:42), before seeing the hosts go on a 23-point run that extended well into the third quarter. Schuylar Nolan led the offensive charge with eight points, followed by Emily Dingmon recorded five points and six rebounds.

The run stood until 7:36 into the third quarter when the Hawks were finally able to find the board (40-15). The squads traded blows, but VTSU Castleton owned a 30-point lead at 3:18 off a Maggie Parker layup.

The final quarter was all Spartans, seeing them outscore the opposition, 19-8. Dingmon completed her triple-double as she recorded an assist on Stasia Epler's trey to make it 75-38 with 3:10 remaining in the contest. The Hawks were able to sink a three in the closing seconds, but too little, too late as Castleton sent them home with a 77-41 loss.

It was Nolan that led her team in scoring with 16 points, followed closely behind by Adams with 15. The latter also put up six rebounds and three assists to secure the title of Spartan Classic MVP.

Dingmon was an All-Tournament honoree with her triple-double composed of 22 rebounds, 11 points and 10 assists. The rookie also recorded one steal and one block.

Off the bench, Maggie Parker put up 13 points, going 6-for-9 from the field, while grabbing six rebounds.

The Spartans return to action on Tuesday as they travel to Middlebury College for a 1 p.m. tipoff.
